SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield is looking to assess the city's streetlights.
Springfield City Councilor Jesse Lederman has proposed an audit of the city's streetlights to assess the age, effectiveness, and technology of each light.
Lederman pushed for repairs of nearly 600 streetlights by Eversource back in the summer but says the city should consider converting to more durable LED lights.
Residents are concerned for dimming streetlights and outages -- especially as we approach the winter months.
The City of Springfield has nearly 14,000 street lights.
