Councilor Lederman Endorsed by Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund


The Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund has endorsed Springfield City Councilor Jesse Lederman for Re-Election to a second term.

“Jesse understands the connection between environmental issues and public health,” stated ELM Action Fund Executive Director Clare Kelly. "He has been a life-long advocate and active community member in Springfield."

“Jesse has been instrumental in prioritizing the environment in Springfield,” said ELM Action Fund President Elizabeth Henry. “His leadership is crucial for taking the necessary steps to improve resilience and sustainability.”

"I am proud of the work we have accomplished on the City Council to bring needed attention to the environmental and public health issues that impact our community,” said City Councilor Jesse Lederman, “We must continue to work together with residents and local organizations to improve air quality, reduce pollution, and make our community more resilient."

Councilor Lederman has been an At-Large City Councillor in Springfield onNovember 7, 2017, and now chairs the Committee on Health and Human Services and is a member of the Maintenance and Development Committee and the Public Safety Committee. He also created and now chairs the first Committee on Sustainability and the Environment and advocated for the first Sustainability Coordinator position in Springfield to implement the Springfield Climate Action Plan, reduce pollution, and increase air quality. Jesse has fought for the repair of hundreds of gas leaks across the City of Springfield and drew attention to the cost of lost gas being passed on to customers.
