At-Large Springfield City Councilor Jesse Lederman joined over two dozen current and former elected officials across Massachusetts this week to endorse Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders in the Democratic Primary for President of the United States. See statement below from Councilor Lederman:
"As the Mayor of Burlington, Vermont, Bernie Sanders defied the odds to get elected and give a voice to the most vulnerable members of his community. As Congressman, and later as a Senator, he often stood alone in advocating for the poor and working class people of this great country, that we might have a chance at the American dream. Doing the right thing, alone, and under criticism, is the essence of leadership. Our nation and our future require that leadership now more than ever. I have every confidence that as President, Bernie Sanders will not waver in his commitment to put forth honest and just policies that advance and benefit communities like mine, who are too often left out of the conversation - just as he has done faithfully for the last 40 years."
